ORing controllers are used to replace diodes in applications looking to improve system efficiency. They are designed to behave like a diode as much as possible. However, at light loads, with low RDS(on) FET’s, ORing controllers can create an oscillation on the rail that not only creates ripple at the output, but will also lower light load efficiency.
